Tanury's TiN is a wear-resistant, biocompatible titanium nitride (TiN) coating produced with the proprietary cathodic arc physical vapor deposition (PVD) process.

TPVD TiN is a general-purpose coating for the following: machining of iron-based materials, metal fabricating, plastic molding, wear parts, decorative, and medical device applications. The high hardness and low coefficient of friction of TiN reduce erosion, abrasion, and metal-on-metal wear. The coating also resists corrosion. TiN is not inclined to stick to or bond with other materials. Wear surfaces and cutting edges remain free of galling and cold bonding for long periods of time. TPVD TiNs' strong adhesion and dense microstructure prevent flaking and cracking at cutting or wear surfaces, even where extreme compressive forces exist. The rich gold color offers better wear and corrosion resistance than gold itself for the specialty decorative market and medical devices.

Tanury's titanium carbonitride (TiCN) coatings produced with the proprietary cathodic arc physical vapor deposition (PVD) process.

TPVD TiCN coatings provide higher hardness and lower coefficient of friction than titanium nitride (TiN). TPVD TiCNi coating is designed for wear applications. Its coefficient of friction is superior to that of TPVD TiN while its hardness and adhesion are comparable.

Tanury's CrN is a wear-resistant chromium nitride (CrN) coating produced with the proprietary cathodic arc physical vapor deposition (PVD) process.

The greater coating thickness of TPVD CrN provides superior performance and toughness over other PVD and CVD coatings in wear applications. It has better corrosion resistance than TiN, especially in aqueous solutions. The CrN coating can be used as a direct substitute for other surface enhancement techniques such as chromium plating, ion nitriding, chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and the thermal diffusion process. TPVD CrN is twice as hard as conventional hard chrome plating. The high hardness, low coefficient of friction and low residual stress levels of the TPVD CrN coating combine to resist abrasive wear, metal-on-metal wear, and galling.

Tanury's TiAlN has a bronze color and exceptional high-temperature oxidation resistance.

TPVD TiAlN have exceptional performance when compared to other coatings in many metal cutting and fabricating applications. The key to their performance is the addition of aluminum to TiN, which increases hot hardness, as well as the oxidation stability of the coating. The oxidation thresholds of TiAlN (800 C) are the highest of any commercially available coating. TiAlN coatings also have excellent ductility which makes coated components less susceptible to chipping.

Tanury's AlTiN coating contains 60 wt% aluminum. The high aluminum content of TPVD AlTiN provides higher hardness and a smoother surface finish when compared to TiAlN coatings. TPVD AlTiN has exceptional high-temperature oxidation resistance and a characteristic black color

Tanury TPVD ZrN is a medical-grade, wear-resistant coating with high hardness, excellent corrosion resistance and a low coefficient of friction. TPVD ZrN has been used as a coating for medical and surgical instruments that may experience corrosion due to contact with bodily fluids or sterilization solutions. In salt spray corrosion tests, ZrN has improved the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. It can be deposited with good adhesion at temperatures as low as 350 F. TPVD ZrN can be used as a decorative coating and in some instances in place of TiN for product differentiation purposes.

TPVD ZrN has been certified to be biocompatible based on a series of tests conducted by an independent biological testing laboratory. The biocompatibilty test include those typically required by the tripartite protocol for materials which experience short-term body contact.
